How to Apply for a FESCO New Connection?

Do you need to apply for a new FESCO connection? Then this guide will sort out your matter. FESCO allows new connections in 2026. The application form is free of cost. However, you have to pay the connection charges later, when FESCO issues your demand notice. You also need to have some specific documents to get a new electricity meter connection from FESCO.

Now you don’t need to visit the FESCO office, as FESCO has opened the online portal for new connection and demand notice applications.

This guide is prepared for people who have just built a new house or a commercial building and need to apply for a new connection from FESCO. Your problem is solved on this page, so keep reading.

Who can apply for a New FESCO Electricity Connection?

The owner of the property can apply in his own name. A tenant can also apply, but he needs a permission letter from the house owner on stamp paper, attested by an oath commissioner.

Your load decides your category, and your category decides the officer who sanctions your connection, as this table from the NEPRA-approved Consumer Service Manual (CSM) shows.

CategoryLoadSanctioning authority
Category-I1 kW to 15 kWA.M / SDO
Category-II16 kW to 70 kWD.M / XEN
Category-III70 kW to 500 kWManager / S.E

Note: Almost every home falls in Category-I, so the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of your area sanctions a normal house connection.

Download FESCO New Connection Application Form PDF

First of all, you need to download the FESCO new connection application form. I have added a PDF link below for you. Just click on the download button and get the application form online. Print this form and then follow the steps below for the application submission.

Required Documents Before Application

You need to prepare the following required documents for the new meter application.

  • Proof of ownership, such as the registry, fard, sale deed, or allotment letter, attested by an oath commissioner, notary public, or grade-1 gazetted officer
  • An attested photocopy of your CNIC
  • An attested photocopy of the witness’s CNIC. A single-phase home connection doesn’t need witness signatures
  • A copy of your neighbour’s electricity bill
  • A wiring test report from a wiring contractor
  • An undertaking on stamp paper that no connection exists at the place and no arrears are due on it. If arrears appear later, you have to pay them
  • A permission letter from the other owners if the property has more than one owner

Types of FESCO Connections

Before you apply for a new connection, you should be aware that FESCO has 10 different electricity connection types. Each type is dedicated to a specific type of usage. Below are the 10 types; you can check and choose your category.

  1. Domestic
  2. Commercial
  3. Industrial
  4. Agriculture
  5. Tubewell
  6. Temporary
  7. General Services
  8. Electrification (Colonies)
  9. Street Light
  10. Corporate Company

FESCO New Connection Charges 2026

New meter connection charges are very important to be aware of. This will allow you to go through a smooth process without any interruptions. I have cross-verified all the latest FESCO new meter connection charges with official FESCO channels. I have compiled the charges list below.

Consumer categorySecurity deposit
Residential (A-1), urbanRs 1,220 per kW
Residential (A-1), ruralRs 610 per kW
Commercial (A-2), urbanRs 1,810 per kW
Commercial (A-2), ruralRs 920 per kW
Industrial (B1)Rs 1,580 per kW
Industrial (B2)Rs 2,010 per kW
Industrial (B3)Rs 2,890 per kW
Industrial (B4)Rs 3,560 per kW
Agricultural tubewell (D)Rs 15,000 lump sum
Public lighting (G)Rs 1,560 per kW

One small rule is worth knowing here. If your load has a fraction, half a kilowatt or more is counted as a full kilowatt, and anything below half a kilowatt is ignored.

The service connection charges work in a different way. These charges cover the meter, the service cable, and the material that brings supply from the pole to your premises. A short line costs less, and a long line costs more because extra cable and poles are needed. A three-phase meter also costs more than a single-phase meter. The standard charges are given below.

Meter typeLength of service lineCharges
Single phaseUp to 20 metersRs 8,500
Single phaseAbove 20 and up to 30 metersRs 10,500
Single phaseAbove 30 and up to 40 metersRs 11,500
